Federated Bank VISA Multi-factor Authentication (MFA)

This is a special announcement for all Federated Bank VISA cardholders. Federated Bank is implementing multi-factor authentication (MFA) for cardholders. This update will take place between 11 p.m. ET on Monday, May 13, and 6 a.m. ET on Tuesday, May 14, 2024.

Following implementation, cardholders will be prompted to use a one-time passcode (OTP) process to complete the following functions: Register, Login, Change Password, Forgot Username, and Forgot Password.

Cardholders must have a valid email address or mobile phone number on file for the account to receive their OTP. Cardholders who provided both can choose whether to have the OTP emailed or texted to them. Users can select the Do you want to remember this device? option for up to five devices to skip MFA for six months for that device. (See images below.)

MFA using an OTP will replace the challenge questions currently used to verify identity when logging into your Federated Bank VISA account. While we understand that that setting up MFA is a temporary inconvenience, it is becoming increasingly necessary to help prevent fraud. MFA using an OTP is an industry best practice and we are implementing it for your protection. It is designed to reduce potential fraud exposure for you.

Below are images of the steps that you will be walked through when you attempt to sign-on beginning tomorrow.
