As you celebrate our Independence Day, many of you will be traveling, either now or throughout the summer months. Nothing can ruin a trip faster than losing your wallet or purse with all of your bank and credit cards, or trying to use your card only to be told that your card won’t process. Federated Bank would like to provide you with the following tips to help with this:
- Let the bank know when and where you will be traveling. Credit and Debit Card transactions are monitored and when non-ordinary transactions or transactions in areas of the country that you are not normally making purchases in occur, this can send up red flags. However, if you let us know where you will be travelling ahead of time, we can make sure those transactions are processed without delay. This will avoid any potential denials or fraud alerts when travelling. This is recommended for in country traveling, and is imperative when traveling outside of the country.
- Make sure the bank has your contact information. Your cell phone number(s) are imperative in case we need to get in touch with you. Regardless of travelling, the bank should have your most immediate contact information. We can call your home number all day long, but if you aren’t there to answer we are not able to help!
- Make copies of all the cards you will be carrying. Take a copy with you and leave a copy with someone you trust back home. Be sure to include the customer service phone numbers on the copy so you have those if needed. Do NOT write your PIN number on your card as these need to remain secure.
- Check your available balances before you leave. Know the limits on how much cash you can withdraw or purchases you can make.
These are just a few reminders that will help to make your travels the fun and enjoyable trip they should be. And as always, if there is anything that we at Federated Bank can do to assist you while travelling or otherwise, we are here to lend a helping hand. Thank you for your trust in us.
